City & Guilds has a worldwide reputation, and is probably the most well-recognised and respected education provider in the UK.
City & Guilds
Established over 140 years ago, City & Guilds is a distinguished institution specialising in vocational education. City & Guilds Assured serves as a quality assurance mark, validating the excellence of training and learning programs offered by The College of Scent Dogs. It rigorously assesses training processes against the Assured Benchmark Standards to ensure alignment with global quality benchmarks, thereby bolstering the credibility and value of the training programs.
City & Guilds, a global leader in skills development, provides a diverse range of qualifications across multiple sectors. While formal qualifications, such as City & Guilds NVQs, demonstrate acquired knowledge, City & Guilds Assured places emphasis on the quality of the learning process. This ensures that individuals gain skills and knowledge through a reputable program that facilitates your dog training career advancement.
If you’ve been wondering what our City & Guilds credentials are equivalent to, they compare well with academic qualifications and are recognised by employers worldwide. Whether it’s an apprenticeship, a technical qualification, or a professional recognition award, City & Guilds stands for quality training.
Our unique scent training programs provide an exclusive opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of canine search. Participants have the potential to attain City & Guilds Assured Credentials and acquire distinct digital logos for integration into their CV, marketing materials, website, or social media presence.
City & Guilds Assured Credentials
We understand the importance of displaying your search dog training achievements. The successful candidate will be able to show these formally recognised Digital Credentials. Which will allow you to safely and securely validate the skills and knowledge you have gained.
You will be able to let your customers, potential employees and ‘the world’ know that your achievements are ‘here to be seen!’ As we understand that there are so many ‘hidden skills’ acquired within dog training that have not been formally recognised, in turn adding unverifiable claims to your canine training CV.
The College of Scent Dogs has been assured by City & Guilds proving the quality of our scent detection training. These programmes have gained recognition from City & Guilds demonstrating an excellent quality standard, giving you the knowledge, confidence and reassurance that our training is the best it can be.
Achieving your Digital Credentials
We all understand that dog training is not always an ‘instant skill’ that can be completed in a matter of days, particularly when becoming an instructor. This takes time, practice, and experience. With this in mind, we have developed a training system that spans three weeks of in-person learning, supported by an online mentorship that will support you through the process.
The programme will start weeks before the in-person attendance, with webinars covering subjects such as clicker training, reinforcement schedules, canine training concepts, adult learning theories plus so much more.
You will soon notice the ‘Golden Thread’ of instructor training running throughout the entire programme, where every training opportunity will link to lessons that you may be teaching your clients in the future.
The candidate will complete;
Week One… Scent Detection Handler Skills
Week Two… Scenario-based training, Systematic Search.
Week Three… Training the client, and planning your courses.
